Pediatric Integrative medicine reaffirms the importance of the relationship between pediatrician and patient, focusing on the whole person. It is also informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches, healthcare professionals and disciplines to achieve optimal health and healing.
Integrative medicine combines modern medicine with established approaches from around the world. By joining modern medicine with proven practices from other healing traditions; integrative medicine practitioners are better able to relieve suffering, reduce stress, maintain the well-being, and enhance the resilience of their patients.
At Whole Child Texas we implement the integrative medicine paradigm to treat the whole child, spirit-body-brain, in a healing and relaxing environment. We also introduce families to healing modalities that are scientifically sound and can be safely interwoven with traditional, Western medicine like homeopathy, Ayuverda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, chiropractic care, and herbal medicine.
We do focus a lot on prevention through nutrition, stress management, parenting and lifestyle, but we do use prescription medications if needed. For example, if a child has an asthma attack, he needs an inhaler and sometimes prescriptions medications by mouth, but we also discuss how diet, nutritional support, and stress management can prevent asthma flare-ups and eventually heal the child’s asthma. We always strive to address the root cause of diseases and not just treat the symptoms.
Last but not least, Dr Alina strongly believes that the therapeutic relationship between a pediatrician and a patient is healing in itself. She treats every child with deep love and care.
