Why Pilates? + Re:Gen Love | North Dallas Moms

This post is brought to you by Re:Gen Pilates

Re:Gen Love

Not sure if you’ve noticed yet, but we are obsessed with Re:Gen, not only for the killer workouts, but for the people. We were truly brought back to life here when we look back upon the last year. The owners Jen and Bridget, are the most down to earth momma’s who genuinely want to see their clients succeed, and you can’t help but fall in love with this duo! To add to it, every coach is so sweet and motivating, it’s unreal.

We started innocently with a few reformer classes a week a year ago, only to realize Re:Gen offered Spin, Yoga, Barre and Lagree (talk about what momma workout dreams are made of). Our first Lagree class literally felt like someone was joking with us, it was so hard, we couldn’t help but laugh through it. But for some reason we took them up on their offer and tried a second class (partly because you’re first two Lagree classes are free), and it made a little more sense that class, but still felt impossible. Now a year later, it is an addiction we can’t kick.

We are planning monthly Frisco Area Mom workouts for your ladies, and we can’t wait to show you what you’ve been missing!

Why Pilates?

If you have ever found yourself interested in Pilates, but you aren’t sure what all the excitement is about, we are here to share! Here are some of the top reasons we recommend Pilates.

Pilates is a full-body exercise. While many exercise programs focus on one area of the body or another, Pilates encompasses all of it. With a focus on the core, while training the entire body, it can help you develop both balance and strength as your muscles develop. We also work on increased flexibility and movement range.

Pilates is for everyone. Regardless of whether you are a seasoned athlete or have never entered a gym before, there is a Pilates class for you. Every class and level offer modifications to meet the needs of those who participate.

Pilates can improve your posture. While posture improvement may not sound glamorous, don’t underestimate the value of a strong and erect spine. Poor posture leads to an imbalance in the body that leads to pain and injury in the shoulder, neck, and possibly even the pelvis. As a result, you might suffer from migraines, neck pain, lower back pain, or other problems. With Pilates, you can target the deep postural muscles in your back, which will keep your core strong, aligned, and mobile.

Pilates prevents and helps heal back injuries. Many back injuries are only made worse by a lack of strength. Movements that lengthen, stretch, and still exercise the spine are encouraged to create lasting improvements.

Pilates can provide muscle balance. If you have engaged in a sport that has repeatedly used just one side of your body (golfing or baseball, for example), then the muscles on one side are usually more favored than the muscles on the other. Pilates restores the body’s balance and can create equal strength on both sides.

Pilates can develop core strength. Your core is a major part of performing any daily movement. We can train our limbs to grow stronger through strength training, but Pilates is never about working out only one muscle. Your core is the foundation for all movement, so keep it ready to handle the challenge.

Pilates can help you lose weight. If you practice Pilates on a regular basis, you will notice your body begin to change. The muscles grow longer and leaner, and built muscles demand more calories in order to work efficiently. Just because it is low-impact does not make it easy!

Pilates can help you live in the present. The creator of Pilates was insistent that this workout program was designed to be “the complete coordination of body, mind, and spirit.” While taking a Pilates class, you will need to focus on your movement and your breath while learning to control your own tension and movement. Focus on the present, release your stresses of the day, and join us in class.
